A shaft retaining circlip (also known as a shaft retaining ring or shaft retainer) is a ring-shaped mechanical component that secures the axial position of parts by snapping into a shaft groove. Its inner diameter is slightly smaller than the diameter of the mounting shaft, requiring expansion with retaining circlip pliers before installation. It is suitable for applications with no or very small axial loads. According to standards, it can be classified into several types, including GB 894.1-86 (Type A), GB 894.2-86 (Type B), and DIN471. The material is primarily 65Mn spring steel, with a hardness of HRC44-51 after quenching and tempering. The surface is often treated with anodizing or phosphating. This component is widely used in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, and machinery equipment.
