Retaining rings are typically made of 65Mn spring steel, with a surface treated by phosphate or blackening oxidation to improve corrosion resistance. Their inner diameter is slightly smaller than the mounting shaft diameter, requiring the use of snap ring pliers to expand them before embedding them into the shaft groove. The retaining ring structure must ensure a smooth surface, adequate elasticity and hardness, and no burrs or sharp edges.
Retaining rings are mainly divided into two categories:
Type A retaining rings: Manufactured according to GB 894.1-86 standard, suitable for shaft diameters of 3~200mm
Type B retaining rings: Manufactured according to GB 894.2-86 standard, suitable for shaft diameters of 20~200mm, suitable for static and lateral rotational motion, and have a lower cost.
DIN471 retaining rings: Follow German industrial standards, using a C-type structure, suitable for fasteners in the mechanical industry.
